Contractors' Insurance FAQs
Should independent contractors have contractors’ package insurance in Saskatchewan?
While your jobsites may vary, we recommend that any and all contractors should protect themselves with a contractors’ package. The real question is—Basic or Deluxe Contractors’ Package?
How do I know if I need a Basic or Deluxe Contractors’ Package?
While this may be dependent on your scale of business or equipment and tools used, the Deluxe Contractors’ Package has greater coverages when considering theft and higher limits for installation floater compared to the Basic Contractors’ Package.
What is the difference between tools and equipment insurance in a contractors’ package?
Contractors’ equipment is defined as mobile construction equipment. Some examples of these are backhoes and other heavy equipment, smaller machines such as forklifts, generators and compressors, and scaffolding. This includes accessories and spare parts of these machines. Items that don’t fit this description will likely be considered tools. Check with your insurance broker to be sure!
