Standing Together: Supporting Communities Affected by Wildfires in Saskatchewan and Manitoba
In the face of natural disasters, it’s our neighbours, families, and friends, who remind us what resilience really looks like. As wildfires continue to affect regions across Saskatchewan and Manitoba, many people have been forced to leave their homes behind, unsure of what the days ahead will bring. It's a deeply emotional and uncertain time for thousands.
At Sandbox, we believe in showing up when it matters most. It’s part of who we are, not just as an insurance company, but as a community partner. Through our Emergency Response Program, we've donated more than $6,000 to local organizations working on the frontlines of the wildfire crisis. These groups are doing extraordinary work providing food, shelter, supplies, and emotional support to people and pets in need.

Where Our Support Is Going
Here’s a closer look at the incredible organizations we’ve donated to and how they’re helping:
Canadian Red Cross
From emergency lodging and meals to emotional care and crisis support, the Red Cross is a vital first responder when disaster strikes. Their teams are actively supporting evacuees across both provinces through their wildfire appeals. With government matching in place, every donation goes even further.
Southern Chiefs’ Organization (SCO) (Manitoba)
SCO is working to gather urgently needed items like baby formula, hygiene products, clothing, and bedding for First Nations families forced to evacuate. They’re coordinating efforts from their Winnipeg headquarters, ensuring families stay safe, fed, and connected to cultural support systems.
Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs and First Nations Family Advocate Office (FNFAO) (Manitoba)
With deep ties to northern communities, Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs and FNFAO are working together to support evacuees with direct resources, wellness outreach, and advocacy. They continue to serve as a voice for displaced families, helping them access essentials and navigate next steps with dignity and care.
Animal Food Bank (Winnipeg)
Often overlooked in emergencies, pets need support too. The Animal Food Bank is making sure evacuated families don’t have to worry about how they’ll care for their pets. They’re delivering food, temporary supplies, and peace of mind to pet owners caught in crisis.
Central Urban Métis Federation Inc. (CUMFI) (Saskatoon)
Based in Saskatoon, CUMFI is collecting and distributing donations to help Métis and First Nations families displaced by the fires. From clothing to comfort kits, their community-first approach ensures people have what they need in a time of great uncertainty.
Northern Animal Rescue (La Ronge)
In La Ronge and surrounding areas, this dedicated group of volunteers is rescuing animals left behind during sudden evacuations. They're working around the clock to reunite pets with their owners, and care for those still waiting to be found.
United Way Saskatoon & Area
United Way is helping more than 3,000 wildfire evacuees with not just basic needs, but also community-building efforts. They're organizing transportation and recreational opportunities to support mental well-being—because recovery is about more than just survival.
Saskatoon Community Foundation
Mobilizing quickly, the Foundation is channelling local donations to trusted organizations helping evacuees. Their emergency response fund ensures resources get to the right places.

Our Emergency Response Program
At Sandbox, we know that being part of a community means showing up, especially during life’s toughest moments. That’s why we created our Emergency Response Program. It’s a way for us to respond quickly and meaningfully when disaster hits.
Whether it’s wildfires, flooding, or other emergencies, we assess where help is needed most and direct funding toward those local groups making a difference.
How You Can Help
If you’re in a position to lend your support, every little bit helps.
Many of the organizations listed above are accepting donations, supplies, or volunteers. Whether you can give a monetary gift, offer your time, or simply spread the word, your contribution adds to the collective effort to care for those impacted by the fires.
