As our HR Advisor, you will be primarily responsible for facilitating all HR functions and programs. They play a vital support role in the lifecycle of a Sandbox Mutual Insurance employee. This includes attracting and retaining a talented workforce, onboarding and offboarding, maintaining employee records, assisting with, and participating in highly confidential labour relations matters, developing, and maintaining HR reports and templates, payroll processing, benefits administration and providing administrative support to clients and employees.

DIVE IN AND MAKE A SPLASH EVERY DAY BY:

  • Assist with all internal and external HR related inquiries or requests.
  • Create, update, and maintain confidential employee records and other confidential HR related files (paper and digital).
  • Provide support with the recruitment process by posting vacancies, sourcing candidates, assisting with shortlisting, participating in the interview process, performing background checks, and issuing employment contracts.
  • Participates in and provides support with highly confidential labour relations matters including but not limited to employee investigations, discipline, terminations, grievances, disability leaves, etc.
  • Assist with developing, updating, and maintaining job descriptions, HR processes, procedures, and policies.
  • Provide general administrative support with scheduling meetings, preparing information and agendas for HR related meetings and events.
  • Provide support in the research, design and implementation of HR tools, resources, and initiatives to achieve higher levels of effectiveness and service delivery in the organization.
  • Provide support in relation to interpretation and administration of the collective bargaining agreement, HR policies and applicable legislation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

WHAT YOU BRING TO SANDBOX:

  • Education: A post secondary degree or diploma from a recognized business course with a concentration in human resources.
  • Experience: Minimum two years human resources experience; with at least one year in a unionized workplace.
  • Human Resources acumen: Knowledge of principals and concepts of human resource management.
  • Technology Knowledge: Demonstrated experience working with systems, (i.e., Microsoft
  • Office 365, MS Teams SharePoint). Strong understanding of HRIS (BambooHR) and is motivated to drive new initiatives and support process efficiencies.
  • Conflict resolution and negotiating skills: Proven ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing and establish and maintain effective working relationships to resolve conflicts and encourage a strong supportive culture.
  • Developing others: Practices a ‘hands-on’ approach when directing employees and   empowers employees to be successful through training, developing, and coaching.
